The Baton Rouge Area Digital Industries Consortium is a dynamic
economic development engine dedicated to aggressively expanding
the digital media sector in the Baton Rouge Area. Our efforts include enhancing
digital media education, recruiting companies, encouraging entrepreneurial
activity, and supporting the participation of Baton Rouge in the global
digital media economy.
Louisiana’s rich cultural diversity and technological investment
make Baton Rouge, the state’s capital, the natural place for
the advancement of a permanent digital media economy. Our community
will continue to grow this sector, participating in the global economy,
securing jobs, developing new companies, seeking venture capital
investment, and changing the landscape of the state capital. Digital
media will be one of the primary sectors of the city’s
economy, entrenching Baton Rouge in the global creative market.
BRADIC was built on the collaboration of Louisiana State University,
the Office of the Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish, the
Baton Rouge Area Foundation, and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, with
special support from the Louisiana Department of Economic Development. The
consortium was founded on the success of the Red Stick International
Animation Festival as an economic development engine. The festival
fulfilled its initial goal of bringing speakers and industry professionals
to the Baton Rouge area. Speakers from major digital media
companies have toured Baton Rouge because of this event. To
build on this success, BRADIC’s partners decided to create
an office whose sole purpose was to promote the Baton Rouge area
to digital media companies. It is critical that the office
communicate in the language of the industry, to show decision-makers
that Baton Rouge and its leadership understand their needs and are
able to address industry concerns.
The consortium has an executive board of the community’s top
leaders and advisory board of digital media professionals. The
consortium leaders work with international companies to help create
innovative solutions to the needs of industry. As the primary
partner, Louisiana State University is dedicated to innovation and
technology development through the LSU Office of Research and Intellectual
Property, and the LSU Center for Computation & Technology. |
